Caring For Your Shades |
 |
 |
After searching for just the right pair of sunglasses to keep you ahead of the fashion pack, the last thing you want is for your stylish new shades to become damaged. Taking steps to care for them from the beginning will help to prevent some of the most common issues that sunglass wearers encounter with their eyewear.
Following the suggestions below should help to keep your hot new shades looking (almost) as fresh as you do!
- Be sure to always carry your sunglasses in a case. The most common complaint of sunglass wearers is scratches, which can be prevented by simply placing your eyewear in a protective case when not in use.
- Glasses with plastic lenses may warp if exposed to high temperatures. Be careful not to leave your glasses on a car dashboard or seat on a hot day.
- Careful handling will help your glasses to last longer and will feel more comfortable. Although it is inevitable that any type of glasses will bend out of shape from regular use, using caution when putting them on will help to delay this. Use both hands to place them on your face and never wear them on the top of your head when not in use. Once you find your glasses becoming loose just visit your optician and have him/her adjust them.
- Check regularly for loose screws.
- Remove your glasses before spraying hairspray or applying facial lotions or cosmetics, etc. Over time, these products will cause build-up on the lenses.
- Use only a soft, non-abrasive cloth to clean your sunglass lenses. Toilet paper and paper towels often contain small wood particles and can scratch the lenses.
- Salt water can cause the protective coating on some lenses to peel. Rinse lenses off with tap water after exposure to salt water and never let your sunglasses remain wet for long.
